Published in 1995, the first edition of the Klat collection of ancient Near Eastern terracotta figurines featured detailed drawings, photographs and explanatory text. The collection was assembled by Michel Klat, a Lebanese industrialist, between 1978 and 1993 at the instigation of his friend, Georges Lotfi, who supplied it with a number of objects. This second edition includes the same collection, with 45 new pieces added, and takes into account new data brought about by recent archaeological discoveries. The terracotta models date from the third and second millennia BC and are comparable to archaeological material found in the Euphrates region. Some are also comparable to specimens originating from sites in the Orontes, from southeastern Anatolia or Mesopotamia. - from Amzon
